Misa Solemne: A Sacred Music Composition by Alejandro Consolacion II

Misa Solemne is a musical setting of the Mass Ordinary texts for mixed voices and organ by Filipino composer Alejandro Consolacion II. It was composed in 2005 and published by Holy Measures and Consolacion's Publication. The composer describes it as "a solemn and majestic work that reflects the Filipino Catholic faith and culture."

The work consists of six movements: Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Benedictus, and Agnus Dei. Each movement has its own musical character and style, ranging from lyrical melodies to rhythmic ostinatos, from homophonic textures to polyphonic counterpoint, from modal harmonies to chromatic dissonances. The composer also incorporates elements of Filipino folk music, such as pentatonic scales, syncopated rhythms, and bamboo flute sounds.
